Microgaming is going to close down its MPN poker network in 2020.
Alex Scott, Managing Director of MPN’s poker division, in a blog post wrote that he had reviewed the Microgaming’s poker product comprehensively, “with input from poker industry experts, independent consultants, and my colleagues around the world.”
The blog states “The conclusion of the review was that, for poker to be as successful as possible, we had to adopt a very different strategy and business model. Ultimately, the poker network is not part of that vision,”
Mr. Scott also stated that no specific date for the closure of the poker network has been settled and the things are under process. But it’s expected to be closed in Q2 or Q3 2020.
MPN Continues to Function till its Closure
He also told that the network would continue to function normally until its closure next year. It will offer all tournaments, cash games, promotions, and live events. He hoped that clients would opt to continue playing on the MPN until it’s officially closed.
Mr. Scott assured players not to rush to withdraw their funds as there is no reason that any of the MPN’s poker rooms were in a financial crunch.
“Our plans to close the network have no impact on the safety of your funds,” he assures.
Microgaming CEO John Coleman also stated that although the network is closing, it was not the end for poker at Microgaming.
He said Microgaming is committed to creating the most enjoyable entertainment games. Finally, this move will result in achieving that vision of the business as we follow a new strategic way for the vertical, which will be revealed at the right time.
Ultimately, this move will help the business to achieve that vision as we follow a new strategic direction for the vertical, details of which will be revealed in due course.
MPN Worked more than 16 Years
Microgaming is one of the most popular gaming software developers within the online casino industry, with plenty of online casinos using its products. It released the first-ever casino software in 1994.
The poker network of Microgaming, earlier known as Prima Poker, was operational for more than 16 years. Introduced in March 2003, it rechristened to MPN in December 2012. MPN allowed players to enjoy multiplayer poker games in real-time and was the first online poker network to deliver Anonymous Tables.
